Authenticity: to thyself be true ...
In seeking authenticity, it is inevitable that we eventually move away from maintaining that collection of polished contrivances that we display to the world. As we move toward authentic living, we drop more and more of the masks we wear and settle into being comfortable with who we are and how we behave ...
For myself, I prefer the company of authentic people, natural people; people who care less about what others think of them and more about being true to themselves and to those around them. Maintaining an 'act' can take a lot of energy ... It's okay for some people to dislike you or disagree with you ... No-one can please everyone ... So why bother trying. Be true to yourself, be true to others ... You will be loved by some, despised by others ... Envied, derided, praised, judged, misjudged ... Etc. who cares?
