The Genie in the bottle …
Once it’s out, you can’t get it back in.
So too, it is with those often startling realisations we come to in life. Having a profound ‘realisation’ is a kind of ‘course correction’ of the mind. Enough of them, and we develop our orientation in the world - we clarify our way of seeing the world - our way of seeing a person, an idea or a thing. As the old saying goes, ‘once we see it, we cannot unseen it’.
Not all realisations are comforting; in fact, many of them are decidedly disconcerting; but they are, almost always, instructive.
